Show yourself more appreciation with these four tips

Appreciation | GroupHealth

It‘s often easier to take care of others than focus on ourselves. This month we challenge you to set time aside to put yourself first. This can look different for each person, so we’ve compiled some tips below to help you get started.

  • Set boundaries

Rather than pushing aside your mental or physical health to prioritize others’ needs, think about what healthy boundaries could be set in your life and apply them. Doing so may require you to say “no” to people and that’s ok. Remember that you are important too!

  • Don’t compare yourself to others

It’s common practice for people to compare themselves to one another in how they look, where they live, or what they have. Even if you don’t have the same things as others, it does not make you any less of a person. Focus on your own path and achievements to appreciate the amazing things you offer to the world.

  • Be kind to yourself

Take care of your mental and physical health. Be mindful not to talk about yourself negatively and remember that it is ok to make mistakes. Build up your appreciation for yourself slowly with forgiveness, and positive thinking and actions towards yourself.

  • Do something you love

Plan time each week to do something that brings you joy. This could be reading a book, going for a hike, or spending time with a loved one. Doing something that makes you happy allows you to decompress and recharge, both mentally and physically.
