GroupHEALTH Benefit Solutions® Grants Wishes Through The Children’s Wish Foundation of Canada

Surrey, B.C. – GroupHEALTH Benefit Solutions®, one of Canada’s largest and most respected independent benefits providers, recently participated in Exile Island BC, The Children’s Wish Foundation of Canada’s flagship fundraising event. Through active fundraising efforts over a course of four months, GroupHEALTH raised more than $40,000 and was able to grant the wishes of four seriously ill children.
Children’s Wish has been granting the most heartfelt wishes of Canadian children who have been diagnosed with life-threatening illnesses since 1984. From visiting with a grandparent who lives far away, to playing hockey with a favourite NHL team, each wish is a unique opportunity to share moments of joy in d
ifficult times. To date, the foundation has granted almost 25,000 wishes and has helped create lasting memories for the children and their families.
Exile Island is an action-packed day of fun, competition, and fundraising. Modelled after the TV show, Survivor, teams participate in a series of mental, physical, creative and strategic challenges, battling head-to-head to win the title of BC’s Ultimate Survivor.
GroupHEALTH participated in this event in support of their “wish kid,” Logyn, an energetic and happy six-year-old boy who lives with Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis (FSGS). Through dedicated fundraising efforts, and with the very generous support from many members of it’s Advisor Partner network, GroupHEALTH surpassed their original goal of $10,000 and could grant not only Logyn’s dream to go to Hawaii with his family, but also the wishes of three additional children.
This year’s Exile Island event broke multiple records, including surpassing the event goal to grant 15 wishes, by raising an incredible $180,000. With $10,000 being the average cost of a wish, that means more than 18 wishes were granted! Thanks in large part to the generous efforts of staff and Partners, GroupHEALTH was honoured with the Top Fundraiser’s Award.
“We want to extend our most sincere thanks to all of our staff, Advisor Partners, and friends who contributed to the fundraising efforts and to those who helped spread awareness for this fantastic cause,” said GroupHEALTH COO, Jim Moore. He added: “Children’s Wish quickly became something that our staff and Advisor Partners connected with and we look forward to continuing our support. It’s an incredible feeling to be able to meet these children and their families and know that you’ve helped make their wishes come true.”
